Certificates and Diplomas

Certificate of Attendance

All students with an 85% attendance record will receive a certificate of attendance issued by the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

For university groups or centres overseas, the UIMP may, upon request, issue certificates with special notes and marks (reports, US system credits, etc.).

Examinations and Diplomas

The UIMP offers students the chance to obtain a diploma accrediting their knowledge of Spanish by sitting an examination. Students interested in obtaining this diploma need to register specifically at the Secretary's Office for the course and pay the corresponding fee

DELE Examination

The DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera - Spanish as a Foreign Language) Diploma is an official title that accredits the level of competence and fluency in Spanish. It is awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.

The Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo is an Instituto Cervantes accredited centre for sitting the DELE examination at all levels. Examinations are held in April, May, July, October and November.

ECTS CREDITS (European Credit Transfer System)

There is a specific programme for those students who need certification of the work done in accordance with the European Higher Education Area.
Students who wish to receive ECTS credits need to state this when finalising their registration and fulfil the following requirements:

  • Attend at least 85% of classes they are enrolled on and take part in them, by carrying out tasks that will be assessed by the lecturers.
  • Pass the UIMP Spanish exam at the end of their stay.
