José Carlos is a senior lecturer at the National University of Distance Education (UNED), where he is an expert in educational uses for ICT. He was deputy dean of quality and innovation between 2015 and 2019, and first deputy dean of the Faulty of Philology at UNED, as well as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Print and Audiovisual Media at the UNED between 2005 and 2009, where he mainly dealt with publishing and audiovisual strategies for the internet. He was honoured by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and UNIVERSIA in April 2008 for teaching one of the best online subjects (OCW) produced by Spanish university lecturers. He has taught at over ten universities on mainly postgraduate and doctorate courses: Complutense University of Madrid, Rey Juan Carlos University, Pontificia Comillas University of Madrid (ICAI-ICADE), University of Alicante, University of Valladolid, the Menéndez Pelayo International University, University of Seville, etc.
