The UIMP organises, curates and runs specific academic programmes in Spain for Spanish as a foreign language courses aimed at teenagers (minimum admission age: 16), university students (accredited curricular stays) and lifelong professional training (international companies and organisations).

In addition, university students and professionals can follow a more comprehensive programme in summer of Spanish language and culture with workshops, lectures, meetings and seminars that cover up-to-date topics with a standout scientific, social and humanities slant as part of the Advanced UIMP Courses at the La Magdalena Palace (Santander).

If you represent an overseas university, institution, company or agency and would like to arrange a training programme with the UIMP that adapts to the requirements of your group, we offer three different possibilities in Santander and at other UIMP campuses:

1. Incorporating your group onto scheduled courses.
2. Programming one of our designed courses on dates that suit your group.
3. Designing a specific training programme for your university, institution or company that matches your requirements.

Our mission is to promote culture and science, foster international and inter-regional relationships, scientific and cultural exchanges, as well as run advanced and specialised research activities.

Academic Activities

The Summer Courses are a highlight of our ongoing academic activities and make us a pioneering university centre in Spain. Santander is the traditional academic base, although many other activities are organised and held at our other campuses.

Moreover, the university is a pioneer in Spain in organising Spanish language and culture courses for foreigners. We also organise English immersion courses for students and teachers of the language, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and VET.

Furthermore, we teach Official Postgraduate Programmes in line with the European Higher Education Area that lead to accredited Master’s and PhD degrees across Spain. In turn, we offer accredited UIMP-specific Postgraduate Programmes.

Campuses

The UIMP’s main headquarters is in Madrid. The traditional base for the Summer Courses is Santander and La Magdalena Palace. Nevertheless, we have a further ten bases across Spain that run an increasingly sizeable portion of our activities. They are located in: Santander (Las Llamas Campus), Cuenca, Galicia, Barcelona, Seville, La Línea de la Concepción, the Pyrenees, Tenerife, Cartagena and Valencia.

The UIMP (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo) is an accredited Exam Centre for the tests for obtaining the Spanish as Foreign Language Diplomas (DELE).

The Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) are official titles that certify the level of competence and command of the Spanish language. They are awarded by the Cervantes Institute on behalf of Spain’s Ministry of Education.

The DELE exams are designed in accordance with the directives of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). This provides a practical way of establishing an international objective standard measurement of the level that must be reached at each stage of teaching and when evaluating the results.

The DELE Diplomas cover all the levels of the CEFR.
